In the story, The Bluest Eye, the Breedlove relatives were the most frowned upon and talked about family members due partly to Cholly, the patriarch's, violence toward his friends and family. He quarreled and literally fought his wife habitually, successfully burned down their property and even fathered a stillborn with his personal daughter. A few characters in the novel declare Cholly is just a crazy old drunk whom doesn't value anyone and, since dr. murphy is the only one as well as the theatre in his family, should be the someone to blame for the chaos. However, Cholly a new very hard childhood filled with fear, hatred, and desertion. Also, his wife Polly's behavior toward him can also play a huge part in to his violent nature. The novel goes back into Cholly and Polly's past to give readers a better look at their backgrounds and also to let the readers decide who or what is really the reason for the Breedlove's horrible friends and family lifestyle. The novel does not point the finger, it really highlight's how come certain people may be to blame. Cholly BreedloveвЂs humiliating years as a child memories wonderful own wife's hatred towards him would be the real culprits to the theatre circulating the Breedlove relatives because Cholly does not discover how to not allow these things impact him.
Cholly Breedlove's childhood in Georgia was far from excellent. Both his mother and father left behind him while an infant and so his great Aunt Jimmy took care of him until the lady died once Cholly was only just fourteen. It was at this age when Cholly faced several humiliating encounters.
