The Uniform Offense Reporting (UCR) Program was conceived in 1929 by International Relationship of Chiefs of Law enforcement to meet a need for reliable, uniform criminal offense statistics to get the nation. In 1930, the Federal Bureau of Brought on (FBI) was tasked with collecting, creating, and stroage those stats (Federal Bureau of Inspections, 2007). Today, the F produces a Standard Crime Survey (UCR) yearly for all fifty (50) states and the cities within these states by statistic accumulated from almost all police adjustment agencies. The UCR prospect lists violent criminal activity and home crimes and categorizes each separate criminal offense under all those offenses. I have selected to discuss the crime of larceny theft intended for the two (2) metropolitan areas of Washington M. C., Buenos aires, and Chi town, Illinois. In the following I will identify the amount of occurrences, what the rates were, did the rates alter over time, and what elements could explain a change intended for both areas.
First, larceny theft is usually defined as the taking of virtually anything valuable without the approval of the owner, with the intent to permanently deny him or her from the value of the property considered. The two areas for the purposes on this paper will not include weaponry used to devote the fraud. Most says recognize degrees of theft, just like " grand" or " petty, " which usually relate to the value of the house taken (Your Dictionary, 2007). For both the areas I possess chosen, identification theft is roofed for the intention of data calculated below larceny robbery. Wile researching the UCR, I was able to find statistics for the calendar years of 2001 until 2005 for equally metropolitan areas. Listed below is a table for each area for looking at purposes just in which the yr, population, and statistics intended for the criminal offenses are listed.
